On August 1, 2022, our beloved Olive Wintz was called to her eternal home. Our hearts are saddened by the passing of our loved one. Olive lived to the amazing age of 91 and transitioned peacefully surrounded by her children. We are thankful and appreciative for all the time shared with her.
Olive Wintz was born on July 1, 1931, to the late Allen Dey and Jane McCalman Dey in Light Town, Guyana. She grew up in New Amsterdam, Berbice. Olive was the eldest and the only girl with seven brothers. She became a nurse and later moved to the US where she worked at Wyckoff Heights Hospital in Brooklyn, NY until retirement. Olive was a very active member in her Church, St. Teresa of Avila and senior centers in Alexandria, VA and Richmond, VA.
Olive was an avid reader. She spoke Latin and loved to quote Shakespeare. She had a love for traveling. Anytime that there was an adventure, Olive was ready to explore. She loved music and dancing. Olive was the matriarch of her family and put lots of energy into trying to make things better for them.
She was predeceased by her four brothers, Stanley, Handley, Leslie, Allan and one granddaughter, LaySean Wintz.
Olive leaves to cherish precious memories to her three children, Romayne Banberger (John), Sean (Consuela) and Dwaine Wintz; eight grandchildren, Damon and Mark Banberger, Darius, Dwaine Jr., Naomi, RaySean, Sean II and Oliver Wintz; three great grandchildren, Laila Erby, Parker and Zuri Wintz, several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
