Cordova Family
Your mother was a wonderful, caring, hard working mother who raised a big family with love.
She meant so much to so many and I was always amazed how she cared for her own family and took in foster children with special needs. Some of those children that was all the love they ever had.
I know you are all so proud and thankful for her.
She was a blessing to many and will be sadly missed.
Praying for all of you
God Bless

Our Mom,
Mom had a strength that I think is uncommon. At a very young age she was a single mother who in seven years gave birth to six children. Although our father was absent, she took care of us as best as she could. For all of the difficulties and challenges she faced, her children were her world. Mom had a tremendously big heart.

Mom was raised in a close knit family. Nanny, Poppa, Our uncles George, Kenny, Donald and our very, very special Auntie were there to help us all through some tough times. Mom instilled in us a strong sense of family.

When I think about how to describe Mom, the two words that immediately come to mind are strength and love.

I remember her washing diapers by hand in the kitchen sink. A very tough task when you have more than one baby in diapers. We didn’t have a washer, dryer, dishwasher, telephone or TV. I remember how she would buff the wood floors by piling us onto a blanket and dragging us through the rooms. Everything she did, she did for us. Being a single mother with six children would be overwhelming to most but Mom always had faith that God would see us through. She was always upbeat and uncomplaining, always had a smile on her face and a spark in her beautiful blue eyes. Without Mom’s strength, we would all have been lost.

Mom loved us all unconditionally. She was most happy when she was around children. She had a lot of love to give not only to her birth children but also to our adopted siblings, Samantha, John, Nicholas and Derek. Mom fostered many children too. She also spent many years volunteering at Holy Child’s program for children with special needs.

As I look at my own life, I’m proud to say that I’m a woman of great strength and have have a deep, unconditional love for my family. The strength and love that my mother possessed is now reflected in me.

Thank you Mom. Rest In Peace,

My Mom

What do you say when your mom passes away. Millions of thoughts go into your head while your nerves and emotions start to shatter. So you start to reflect on your life and what impact she played in making you who you are today.

Yes we had some hard times, but what family doesn’t . We didn’t have a father but we were given an aunt who acted as our second mom and 3 uncles who kept my brothers in line.

My best memories are our summer camping trips. Mom and Auntie would pack us into Auntie’s Volkswagen bus and drive us from state to state. I was about 2 months old when the trips began. Auntie made a bracket that strapped onto moms back so she could carry me while hiking. Looking at it today I don’t know how they did it but I am so so happy they did.

I remember gardening, making compost, fishing, block parties and her letting us bury our dog in the backyard. She would take us down to Jamaica Avenue to buy lifesavers to eat on the train when she took us to Brighton beach. I remember the albums she would play and songs she would sing while she hung the wet cloths out on the line. I use to love the smell of the laundry dried outside in the fresh air. I remember once she put the laundry out when it was to cold. All our laundry was frozen and pants stood up on there own. I could go on and on but these are some of my fondest memories.

So along with your high cholesterol and high blood pressure your genes have passed down to me, I was also given your love of the beach, the beauty of a flower, the excitement of landing a fish, the calming of music, strength to fight life’s difficulties, the wisdom to know right from wrong and your unconditional love. I carry all this inside of me and thats what makes me the person I am today.

I read once that a mothers love starts before birth and will endure long after death. Even though your gone your still here.

Rest In Peace Mom.
