William T. Sullivan, 90, of Merrick, NY died on January 28, 2020. Bill was born in Braintree, MA on April 30, 1929 to Bridget (née Descalzo) and Daniel Sullivan. Bill grew up in Braintree, Massachusetts and was the sixth of eight children. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Clark University and a Master’s degree in Education from Hofstra University. Bill served in the military and spent time in Japan. Bill was a talented basketball player, playing for Braintree High, Thayer Academy, Clark University, and also played while in the Army. Bill started his career as a History teacher in New Hampshire. He later became a Guidance Counselor and spent many years working in the Lawrence Public School system until his retirement in 1994. During his retirement, Bill enjoyed spending winters in Florida, playing tennis and golf, reading, gardening and spending time with family.

Bill was the devoted father of Susan Francoeur (Perry Cahill), Carolyn Romaine (Mark), and the proud grandfather of Kristin, Jake, and Madeline. He is also survived by his brother John and sister Elizabeth Sullivan. Bill was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mary and long time partner May Hatch. He was also pre-deceased by five of his siblings, Marie Anderson, Daniel, Charles, Margaret Early, and Patricia Sullivan and his son-in-law Greg Francoeur.
Family will receive friends at Leo F. Kearns Funeral Home, 445 East Meadow Avenue, East Meadow, Friday, 1/31/2020, 7-9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 9:45 AM at Cure of Ars Church followed by interment at Holy Rood Cemetery.
