I worked for years with Curtis at El Al
We both loved movies
His collection was a bit bigger than mine
I visited the rose garden on several occasions
His roses were beautiful
I’m so sorry to hear of his passing
My condolences to the family
Blessed Be

Richmond Hill New York was a wonderful place to grow up in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Blue collar, hard working families. We grew up on the streets. Sometimes our clicks moved off of the streets. Off the streets, The South Queens Boys Club was one of the places we congregated. I was in the 3rd Grade and had a membership at SQBC. My parents were very strict with me and my sister. To be sure, but with a group of friends we could walk together to SQBC at that tender young age. Times were different. At SQBC I checked out the Arts and Crafts Room. Curtis was the moderator. I also joined the photography club. Met my childhood best friend Bill Slavicsek there. I also encountered The Junior Leader Training Corps. Curtis was the moderator. The Leadership Training Corps ran the place. I joined. There I met some great guys, and made wonderful friendships. Eventually I became the Captain of the Leader Training Corps (LTC). In 1974 I won the leadership trophy at SQBC. Curtis taught us how to believe in ourselves. He taught us how to keep the streets in perspective. He taught us how to thrive on the streets and not be swallowed up. Some of us became quite successful from Curtis’ guidance. Others were swallowed up. Tomorrow I will attend Curtis’ wake. Guys who have not seen each other for decades will gather to honor Curtis. As a fan of rock music, I struggled to find a song to honor Curt’s memory. Then I realized; it is about his legacy. Many of us have moved on from Richmond Hill for various reasons. But tomorrow, to remember and honor Curtis' legacy, WE WILL BE BACK IN TOWN!!! RIP Curtis.
